How to Use Your Candle
Your candle was made to last — and a little care goes a long way toward getting the most from every burn.
The First Burn
The first time you light your candle, let it burn long enough for the entire surface to melt to the edges. This usually takes 2–3 hours. Skipping this step can cause tunneling — where the wax burns down the center and leaves a ring of unused wax along the sides. A full first burn sets the memory of the wax and protects every burn that follows.
Trim Your Wick
Before every burn, trim your wick to ¼ inch. A trimmed wick gives you a cleaner, steadier flame and prevents soot and smoking. You can use scissors, nail clippers, or a proper wick trimmer — whatever you have. Just make it a habit before you light.
Burn Time
Keep each burn to 4 hours maximum. Burning longer than this can overheat the vessel, affect the scent, and shorten the life of your candle. Four hours is usually plenty for a full ritual anyway.
Storage
Keep your candle away from direct sunlight and drafts when not in use. Store it with the lid on to protect the scent and keep dust off the wax. A cool, dry place is ideal.
Knowing When to Stop
Stop burning your candle when ¼ inch of wax remains at the bottom. Burning below this point can overheat the vessel. When you reach that point, your candle has given everything it has — let it rest.
A Note on Safety
Always burn on a heat-safe surface, keep away from children and pets, and never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish with a snuffer or the lid — never blow directly into the vessel.
Treat your candle with care, and it will hold the ritual for you, burn after burn.
